monday
last night i got really bored and brought out the sculpey. i really like these “beads” that i came up with. they’re very much inspired by everything on this page, specifically the erin considine tectonic necklace and the iacoli & mcallister neclaces. after work tonight i’m going to get some brass pieces at home depot to make some necklaces that don’t feel so summer-camp craft-table.

my 11-year-old friend asked me what this one was supposed to be and i told her “a smiley face.”

friday
on the days when i spend hours animating, i also spend the most amount of time drawing or crafting. my hands must feel a type of shock or anxiety after spending all day on the computer, and the potential to make something physical always sounds really pleasant. this week i’ve been working on some necklaces in my down time. one type was made by knotting, a technique that my friends, the romeros, taught me. the other is a weaving taught to me by the 11-year-old i babysit. both are intricate and take a lot of time, but are so rewarding. i get to wear these pieces!
this white one was the woven one. i used some twine i got at home depot a few weeks ago. i love the way it turned out but i feel weird wearing it. here is the inspiration.
this technique is a lot like friendship bracelets that i made in my childhood except i included some brass components.
wednesday
tuesday
about a week and a half ago my friends brad and tiffany tied the knot. i’ve been meaning to post some photos i took of them for their engagement a few months ago but somehow time just flew right by me.
today i had the pleasure of guest speaking on comics for the middle school class brad teaches on journalism. i realized, while i was showing a comic i made for b&t’s wedding, that i never posted anything about it here!
anyway, here are the photos and the comic. a big congratulations to my friends!
monday drawings
i was looking through my sketchbook and realized that i haven’t taken pictures of some work of mine i really like. since i’m up early doing some last minute video editing, i thought that i might change that fact and so i took some photos of a few drawings. enjoy.

“on a hill”
this one was for a project that never got off the ground but i like the illustration anyway.
a more recent drawing of julian.
